WHO ARE IDEAL CANDIDATES FOR AN IPL TREATMENT?
Patients who have light skin and are bothered about the damage sun exposure has done to their skin may benefit from IPL treatments. Furthermore, this procedure may be used to address vascular conditions, including broken capillaries that are commonly found in the legs and thighs. Also known as photo facial, IPL also addresses some laxity or loss of firmness in the skin.
HOW DO IPL TREATMENTS WORK?
IPL technology involves the emission of short blasts of high-intensity light in order to penetrate the layer below the skin’s surface. The aim of the treatment is to damage the production of melanin, which is the substance that makes up the brown pigmentation in the skin, as well as the blood vessels that are responsible for the broken capillaries. While the skin naturally repairs the damage, the skin becomes smoother with a more even skin tone.
WHAT CAN BE EXPECTED DURING AN IPL TREATMENT?
During your IPL treatment, you will feel a sensation that most of our patients in St. George describe as similar to the snapping of a rubber band. However, this can provide more discomfort to you than others as individuals have different levels of tolerance to pain. Our doctors at Riverside Medical Arts will provide you with the necessary information about the procedure, including what to expect before, during, and after the treatment.
HOW IPL TREATMENTS DO I NEED?
A series of treatments is required when it comes to IPL procedures in order to achieve optimal results. Usually, three to six treatment sessions, which are a month apart, are needed.
